Riddes: Ikea builds in a mountain canton for the first time
The topping-out ceremony for a new Ikea store was celebrated in Les Morand near Riddes in Valais.
After seven months of construction, Ikea Switzerland has celebrated the completion of the shell of its new furniture store in Valais. In Les Morand near Riddes, a furniture store with 23,000 square meters of retail space on two floors is being built on a 49,000 square meter site, according to Ikea. According to the company, the investment in the new location will amount to more than CHF 100 million by the time it is completed.
The location in Riddes is already Ikea's tenth store in Switzerland, but the first in a mountain canton. The opening is planned for spring 2024. (ah)
