Nike is expected to open a new flagship store at Zurich main station at the end of 2025. The relocation of the SBB Travel Center to the newly renovated south wing will free up a large contiguous area in the north wing, on the connecting axis between Bahnhofstrasse and Shopville. The area is to be converted over the next two years. Expiring rental contracts, tenant damage and maintenance work that is due anyway will be used for an upgrade, according to SBB Real Estate.

A study contract for the partial conversion was put out to tender in 2022, which was won by Zurich architects Spillmann Echsle. As soon as the SBB Travel Center has moved into the south wing - which is expected to be in spring 2024 - the construction project is scheduled to start in the second half of 2024.

The areas of the current rail travel center on the first floor and various areas on the second floor will be modernized, while the rental areas of Brasserie Federal, the tourist office and Migrolino will not be converted. According to SBB Immobilien, the space that Nike will use comprises around 1,000 square meters. There is also another retail space on the first floor measuring around 390 square meters. "Marketing is currently underway here," says SBB Immobilien in response to an IB inquiry. (aw)
