The municipality of Adelboden has suffered a setback in its project for an adventure pool. Aqua-Spa-Resorts AG has withdrawn from the project "for various reasons", according to the local authority. This means that after a five-year planning phase, the plan to build a public adventure pool in Adelboden has failed.

Aqua-Spa-Ressorts AG wanted to build the pool on the Adler site in the village center of Adelboden above an existing multi-storey parking lot, on the roof of which there are currently four tennis courts. The plans included an indoor pool, an outdoor pool with sunbathing area and spa facilities. According to earlier information, the municipality and investor expected a good 50,000 visitors per year.

The local community is still convinced that such a project would represent added value for the village. During the five-year planning phase, there have been significant global events for the company, such as the coronavirus pandemic and the war in Ukraine with the associated price increases for energy and gas. These changed market conditions and differing views on the reversion of the company led Aqua-Spa-Resorts AG to withdraw from the business, the municipality added. (ah)
