Winterthur: Green light for Ina Invest's casino project
Ina Invest is delighted with the concession for a casino to be built on 4,200 square meters as part of its Lokstadt project in Winterthur.
On November 29, 2023, the Federal Council decided to grant licenses for casinos for the period 2025 to 2044. The Winterthur site will now also receive a license. The joint project between Ina Invest and Swiss Casinos, which envisages the construction of a new casino in the listed Rapide industrial building, has thus reached an important milestone.
"We are delighted that the casino in Lokstadt has been given the green light by the Federal Council," says Marc Pointet, CEO of Ina Invest. He announces that Swiss Casinos will operate the most modern and urban casino in Switzerland on a total of around 4,200 square meters in Lokstadt. Ina Invest promises a "futuristic-looking wooden structure", which will be installed in the former production hall of the Swiss Locomotive Machine Factory. The historical substance of the halls will be preserved and remain open to the public.
The building permit for the casino has already been granted. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2024. (aw)
