Bern: City seeks new investor for Viererfeld
Following the withdrawal of a pension fund, the City of Bern is awarding a construction site of the Viererfeld/Mittelfeld large-scale project to a new developer.
The first construction phase will see around 300 apartments built on the Viererfeld/Mittelfeld site. To this end, the city of Berne agreed on development cooperation at the beginning of this year: With the Hauptstadtgenossenschaft, the Burgergemeinde Bern, Mobiliar Asset Management AG, the pension fund of the Berner Kantonalbank (BEKB) and the staff pension fund of the City of Bern as well as Innere Enge Holding AG.
In September, it was announced that the Berner Kantonalbank (BEKB) pension fund had pulled out of the construction project and let its option for a building plot expire. The City of Bern is now inviting tenders for the now vacant building block O52 for sale under building rights to a market-oriented developer. The feasible floor area above ground is 4,700 square meters (planning guideline value) and the majority is intended for residential use, according to the City of Bern. The submission deadline for the bid dossiers is January 26, 2024. (ah)
