Grüsch: Start of construction for new "Grüsch Mill" project
A high-rise building with rental apartments is being built on the former mill site near the train station.
At the beginning of December, the demolition work on the mill tower in Grüsch (GR) marked the start of the realization phase of the new "Grüsch Mill" construction project.
The demolition of the striking grain silo, which, like the main mill building, was built in 1939, was a first: Grüsch Mill is the first project in Graubünden to comply with the requirements of the DGNB certificate for sustainable building, not only for new construction and renovation, but also for demolition.
On the site in the immediate vicinity of the railroad station, which has resembled an industrial wasteland since the mill ceased operations in 2010, Gutgrün AG plans to build a new 30-metre-high tower with 37 rental apartments with its Grüsch Mill project, "a new landmark for Grüsch that will bring life back to the mill area". The old main building of the mill will remain and be renovated. The plan is to create 15 loft apartments on four floors. The apartments are scheduled to be ready for occupation in spring 2026. (bw)
