The 65,000 square meter Thurgauerstrasse site in Zurich-Seebach is one of the city's last large building land reserves. Over the next few years, a new, mixed-use district with apartments and commercial space is to be built here. In the southern part of the site, between Thurgauerstrasse, Eisfeldstrasse and Grubenackerstrasse, the Stiftung Alterswohnungen (SAW) is planning a health center for the elderly and apartments for the elderly on an area of around 5,000 square meters - in a new 70-meter-high building.

Rooms for communal use are planned on the lower floors, as well as a public restaurant with an outdoor terrace. The health center will be located on the floors above. Here, 96 single rooms will accommodate people with medium to high care and nursing needs, and there will also be living areas for dementia patients.

SAW is planning around 130 retirement apartments on the upper floors, mainly 1.5 and 2-room apartments. The retirement apartments will be built on behalf of SAW and financed by SAW. The city is granting SAW a building right for this purpose.

The next step will be to hold an architectural competition, and the construction project should be completed by spring 2027. (ah)
