The municipal assembly of Birsfelden (BL) has approved the "Birsstegweg" district plan. A motion to put the issue to the ballot box was rejected. The way now seems clear for the ambitious project. The timber-hybrid high-rise building is being designed by architects Christ & Gantenbein and the client is the UBS Sima real estate fund (IB reported).

Around 120 apartments and approx. 1,600 square meters of office and retail space are to be built on 30 upper floors on the corner of Hauptstrasse and Birstegweg. With a height of approx. 100 m, the high-rise building is considered a pioneering project. Construction is expected to start in 2025. (aw)
