Thun: Previs Vorsorge renews residential estate
The pension fund is renovating its housing estate on Bubenbergstrasse and creating additional living space. The winner of the project competition has now been announced.
Previs Vorsorge is planning to renovate the housing estate on Bubenbergstrasse and von May-Strasse in Thun. According to the pension fund, the replacement buildings are intended to create a contemporary, sustainable development with a broad mix of apartments. There are currently 72 apartments on the site; once the new development is completed, there will be around 140 units - mainly family apartments are planned.
The project competition was won by the Divertimento project led by Brügger Architekten AG from Thun. According to the jury's statement, the winning project is "a small urban planning and architectural masterpiece".
In addition to apartments, commercial space is also planned
According to Previs Vorsorge, the site at Bubenbergstrasse 20-30 and von May-Strasse 2-6 will not only house apartments, but also commercial and communal areas, for example for a daycare center. The public uses will primarily be accommodated in a seven-storey head-end building at the junction of Bubenbergstrasse and von May-Strasse. A five-storey longitudinal building with numerous family apartments (4.5 to 5.5 rooms) is planned along Bubenbergstrasse. Three further four-storey buildings arranged around an inner courtyard form the end to the existing quarter and the school grounds.
The winning project by Brügger Architekten, together with the already approved zoning plan amendment ZPP "Bubenbergstrasse - von May-Strasse", forms the basis for the further development of the construction project. Previs Vorsorge explains that construction will begin in fall 2025 at the earliest. (ah)
