Salenstein: Real estate entrepreneur buys castle on Lake Constance
Leonis Immobilien AG and its founder, Salenstein entrepreneur Timo Hafner, are buying the historic Salenstein Castle in the Thurgau municipality of the same name.
The transfer of ownership of the over 1000-year-old Salenstein Castle, which is situated on a hill overlooking Lake Constance, took place recently, according to a press release. The property was purchased by Winterthur real estate entrepreneur Bruno Stefanini in 1979. However, he only used it for himself for a short time. Since then, it has been owned by the Stefanini Foundation for Art, Culture and History (SKKG), which put it up for sale in September (IB reported). There is a considerable need for refurbishment.
The new owners, Hafner and Leonis Immobilien AG, have already restored the historic "Villa Rose" in Hauptwil, which dates back to 1853. They now want to find a new use for it and focus on cooperation. "In collaboration with the relevant authorities and everyone who cares about the castle, the aim is to find a renovation concept that suits the castle and the municipality of Salenstein," says Hafner. The purchase price is not being disclosed. According to media reports, the minimum bid at the time of the tender was CHF 5 million. (aw)
