Zurich: SFW plans high-rise residential building in Unterstrass
The SFW Family Housing Foundation wants to add a high-rise building to the existing Brunnenhof development in District 6.
The municipal Family Housing Foundation (SFW) is planning to expand its Brunnenhof housing estate in the Unterstrass district, which was completed in 2007. The existing 72 apartments are to be supplemented by a 40-metre-high high-rise building with 20 non-profit 5.5-room family apartments, according to the City of Zurich. The new building is to be constructed on the site of the existing municipal residential building at Hofwiesenstrasse 126.
The city council has now approved the "Brunnenhof" private design plan, which creates the planning and building law basis for the construction of the new building. According to the city's press release, the design plan allows for a high-quality urban finish to the development directly on Bucheggplatz. The new high-rise building will be set back from the existing building. The area in front of the street will be given a public character with neighborhood-related first floor uses. (ah)
