The Stern housing cooperative is planning to renovate its housing estate on Dahlienweg in Thun. The existing estate from the 1950s with four buildings and a total of 30 apartments is to be replaced by new buildings.

The "Zaunkönig:in" project by the consortium Akkurat Bauatelier and Quartierwerk Architektur with Meta Landschaftsarchitektur won the study contract. The planners propose arranging the buildings in an elongated, comb-like structured volume. The new buildings will accommodate a total of 45 residential units. According to the WBG, the arrangement of the buildings in the urban context is convincing: there will be smooth transitions between the existing neighborhood and the new buildings. The next step will be to develop the winning project into an indicative project. This will serve as the basis for the development regulations. (ah)
