Bern: Office project now with PV façade
A façade made of photovoltaic elements has been approved for the 21,000 square meter office building "Bern 131". The building is due to be completed in February.

The shell and timber construction work on the new Bern 131 service building is nearing completion. According to real estate developer and total contractor Losinger Marazzi, the shell will be completed in June. In February next year, the building designed by Atelier 5 will be handed over to the investor Swiss Prime Site as planned. "In order to further increase energy efficiency, the client - in consultation with the authorities - has opted for a photovoltaic (PV) façade," writes Losinger Marazzi in a press release. Its silicon cells will give the building a bluish appearance.
The new façade was approved at the end of May 2024 and will be installed from late summer 2024. The total floor area of the service building amounts to approx. 21,000 sqm or 13,500 sqm of rental space. Of this, 3,700 sqm is currently let.
The property is being built in the middle of a highway junction (IB reported). (aw)
