In Wengen (BE) on the borders of the Bernese Oberland, the Grand Hotel Belevédère is on the verge of a revival. The French hotel group Beaumier will be making its debut in Switzerland in a few weeks with this classic Alpine-style hotel. The hotel is located in the middle of a private forest; access to car-free Wengen is only possible via the Wengernalp cable car. According to the Beaumier Group, following the extensive renovation, the hotel now has 90 rooms and suites with views of the Lauterbrunnen Valley, two restaurants (Brasserie Belvedère and Restaurant Waldrand) and a spacious spa area with five treatment rooms, two saunas, a hammam and an indoor and outdoor infinity pool. The Belevédère is the first luxury hotel in Wengen; the hotel will open in July and its official reopening has been announced for September 16, 2024.

Alongside the Wengener Hof and the Hotel Silberhorn, the Belevédère is one of the three Wengen Classic Hotels that the Beaumier Group took over from the local Zinnert family in 2022. The purchase price was not disclosed. This was Beaumier's first acquisition outside of France. The addition of the three hotels was "a strategic step for further growth in Europe and beyond", Beaumier CEO Eric Dardé was quoted as saying in a press release at the time. (bw)
