Givisiez: green light for 56 million euro cultural camp
Planning permission has already been granted for the building, which will house cultural objects from seven institutions in the canton of Fribourg.
A cantonal storage facility for cultural assets is being built in Givisiez (FR). The necessary building permit was issued a few days ago. The building is being constructed on a plot of around 6,000 square meters in the work zone. The undeveloped plot is already owned by the State of Fribourg. Two years ago, the company Bat-Mann Constructeur Intégral SA from Bulle was selected as the general contractor. The construction sum amounts to CHF 56 million.
The new building will cover the needs of the Cantonal and University Library (KUB) for the next 30 years, as well as the storage requirements of seven other institutions for 25 years, namely the State Archives, the Natural History Museum, the Archaeology Office, the Cultural Heritage Office, the Museum of Art and History, the Vitromusée Romont and Gruyères Castle.
