Gossau: Migros expands and renovates operations center
In mid-July, Migros Ostschweiz submitted a planning application to the town of Gossau (SG) for the renovation of production and order picking building C, which is part of the operations center.
Migros Ostschweiz has been using Building C, located on the corner of Industriestrasse and Hofmattstrasse in Gossau, for the production of meat and charcuterie products and the picking of chilled foods since 1979. According to Migros, the building shell, the technology and the surrounding infrastructure are in need of renovation. As part of the construction project, an extension for the refrigerated warehouse, new premises for staff and additional docking points on the south side of the building will be built. The construction measures will make operations more sustainable, the company announces. The total energy consumption can be reduced by a total of 12% and the CO2 requirement by 65%. The improved insulation of the building envelope, a photovoltaic system on the roof and parts of the façade as well as fossil-free heat generation will make a significant contribution to this.
