Davos: Participation process for the "Valbella" project
150 apartments are being built on a hospital site. HRS and the municipality created the concept together.
The largest residential construction project in Davos (GR) is making progress. The partial revision of the zoning plan required for the Valbella project has now been reviewed and approved by the canton of Graubünden. As a next step, the municipality has now launched the public consultation for the project, which envisages 150 apartments for the local population. The district concept was developed in partnership between the municipality of Davos and real estate developer HRS. It provides for both owner-occupied and rental apartments. The aim is to create a mixed residential area with a neighborhood meeting place run by an infrastructure cooperative. Both tenants and owners will have a say in the cooperative. Around a third of the apartments will be offered as low-cost rental apartments. Five terraced single-family homes are also to be built. While the exact number of residential units is still subject to change, the minimum amount of space available for conventional and affordable rental apartments will be set out in a binding planning agreement.
The indicative project envisages five new buildings. The residential buildings are positioned parallel to the sloping terrain. A communal building is planned in the middle of the site, which will form an inner courtyard together with the three larger residential buildings thanks to its slightly rotated position. (aw)
