A few days ago, the ground-breaking ceremony for the Feuerfalter district took place on construction site F of the Papillon site in the Niederwangen district of Köniz. It is set to become one of the first PlusEnergy districts in the canton of Bern. A total of 240 apartments with various types of housing will be built in stages by the beginning of 2027. The municipality has granted the building plot on a building lease for an annual rent of CHF 675,000. This will be used to finance the construction of the new school building and community center.

The real estate company Mobimo won the tender competition in 2017. Together with the two non-profit housing developers and co-investors Logis Suisse and Lycaena, Mobimo developed the construction site according to the plans of Bob Gysin+Partner. Marti Gesamtleistungen AG has been commissioned as total contractor for the realization of the project. The prerequisite for the award of the contract was that one third each of the apartments would be non-profit housing, rental apartments at standard market prices and condominiums. The municipality also set targets in terms of sustainability: construction site F was to be built as a PlusEnergy district.

The 240 apartments should be ready for occupancy by fall or winter 2026/2027. The apartments are spread across six buildings, with apartment sizes ranging from 1.5 to 5.5 rooms. Logis Suisse is planning 154 non-profit apartments with a broad housing mix, while Lycaena AG is building 22 rental apartments on its property, also at affordable prices. The real estate company Mobimo is building 64 condominiums in two buildings under building rights. The ground floor will house common rooms and rooms for a day school. (aw)
