The winning project for the new storage building for the Swiss Federal Archives SFA in Zollikofen has been chosen. The jury unanimously awarded first place to the "R2D2" project by Neume Architekten from Basel and WV Architecten from Antwerp.

The Swiss Federal Archives require additional storage space. The project competition launched by the Federal Office for Buildings and Logistics FOBL set economic efficiency and functionality as well as low greenhouse gas emissions and the use of all suitable roof and façade surfaces for the production of electricity as high priorities.

23 teams took part in the open one-stage project competition. Seven projects were ranked. The winning project is characterized, among other things, by the minimal use of concrete, resource-saving materials and the use of existing structural components from the existing parking garage on site. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027. (aw)
