Zollikofen: Development regulations for "Webergut" approved
The Abendrot Foundation wants to convert an existing office building into apartments and thus save emissions compared to a new building. The aim is to create an entire district.
The partial development plan for the "Webergut" project in Zollikofen (BE) has been approved. The existing office building with over 13,000 square meters of floor space has belonged to the Abendrot Foundation since 2019. It was the seat of the Federal Administrative Court until 2011, stood empty for a long time and is currently in interim use. Abendrot is developing the conversion of the building for residential purposes together with the Urbane Dörfer cooperative. The project is expected to produce less than a third of the emissions of comparable new buildings. Together with the users of Urbane Dörfer and a potential realization partner, the usage and project layout as well as the associated construction costs are currently being specified. The next goal is to conclude a development agreement with a total contractor, Abendrot reports. The building application is due to be submitted in 2025 and construction work is expected to begin in 2026 to 2027.
As reported, a new building is also planned on the site. The overall aim is to create a district around the Webergut that also accommodates small companies through conversions, replacement buildings and densification. (aw)
