Muttenz: Building permit for major project
Behind the "Am Schänzli" construction project, which envisages the creation of almost 400 apartments and 14,000 square meters of commercial space on the outskirts of Basel, are HRS as the project developer and Swisscanto AST as the client.

According to HRS, the building inspectorate of the canton of Baselland has issued the building permit for the "Am Schänzli" project. HRS is the project developer and total contractor and the client is the Swisscanto Investment Foundation.
Over the next three years, a new quarter is to be built on the Hagnau Ost site in Muttenz - not far from Basel's St. Jakob Park - based on plans drawn up by architects Burckhardt Architektur AG and Fontana Landschaftsarchitektur. The centerpiece will be three high-rise buildings, which, according to HRS, will be built using resource-saving construction methods. The base floors of the high-rise buildings and their second floors offer a total of 14,000 square meters of space for commercial and services. According to the press release, over 5,000 square meters have already been leased to a large retailer, a daycare center, a fitness center and a restaurant. Marketing of the approximately 8,000 square meters of office space is set to begin in January 2025. A total of 385 apartments are also being built, ranging from studios to 5.5-room apartments.
Those responsible anticipate a staggered construction period of around three years; the first tenants are expected to move in in fall 2027. (aw)
