Zug: Administrative appeal against major project
The realization of the GIBZ development, including the "Pi" timber residential tower, will be delayed by "many more months".

A private individual lodged an administrative complaint against the development plan for the GIBZ site in Zug at the beginning of March 2025. The Tech Cluster Zug and the sponsors of the 'Pi' high-rise residential building note this development "with regret", according to a press release. According to the investors, the complaint will delay the construction of urgently needed living space for many more months.
The 80-metre-high residential tower, which is to be made of wood, is a flagship project for the site, on which over 60,000 square meters of floor space are planned according to the development plan. The sponsors of "Pi" include the Gewoba housing cooperative, the V-ZUG AG pension fund and Urban Assets Zug AG.
Broad approval at the ballot box
The Grand Municipal Council had already unanimously approved the GIBZ development plan in September 2024 and in the referendum held on February 8, Zug voters clearly approved the project with more than 70% votes in favor.
The GIBZ initiators have announced that planning for the residential tower will continue.
