Supply rents rise slightly in July

Asking rents for residential property rose slightly by 0.09 percent in July compared with the previous month. Compared with the previous year, this represents an increase of 1.79 percent. This is the result of the Homegate.ch asking rent index, which is compiled by the real estate portal Homegate.ch in collaboration with Zürcher Kantonalbank (ZKB). It measures the monthly, quality-adjusted change in rents for new and re-let apartments based on current market offers.

In the cantons of Zurich and Thurgau, asking rents remained stable compared with June. They fell in the cantons of Bern (-0.27%), St. Gallen (-0.18%), Ticino (-0.18%), Vaud and Geneva (-0.08). Compared with July 2014, however, asking rents have risen in all cantons.

The canton of Lucerne shows the greatest growth, with an increase of 0.34 percent. In the canton of Solothurn, asking rents are up by 0.09 percent, in the cantons of Basel-Stadt and Basel-Land by 0.27 percent and in the canton of Aargau by 0.18 percent. (ah)
