Start of construction for second hotel in Andermatt
The construction work for the second hotel of Andermatt Swiss Alps has started. Within a few weeks, the building site for the hotel, the associated residence building and the public indoor swimming pool was prepared.
After the five-star deluxe hotel The Chedi Andermatt, the second hotel to be built in the Andermatt tourist resort is a four-star property with 180 rooms. The hotel, with two restaurants, bars and a conference and event area, also includes a separate residence building with around 100 apartments, the so-called Gotthard Residences. The new indoor swimming pool will also be located in the base of this building. All three parts are being built in parallel.
In order for the hotel to be operational in 2018, the construction work had to start already this year, Andermatt Swiss Alps informs. The start has therefore been made with the so-called "piling" of the building ground. Here, the entire footprint of the new buildings was fixed with 27-meter-deep piles. (ah)
