Start of construction for major Horw Mitte project
On September 16, the groundbreaking ceremony was held for the "Aqua" project with 54 apartments on construction site H2. This also marked the start of the realization of Horw's major "horw mitte" project. The new district will be realized in stages over the next few years; 520 apartments and 1,700 jobs are planned. The investment volume will be around CHF 600 million.
The "horw mitte" area comprises around 110,000 square meters of land between the current center of the community and the highway feeder road to the A2. Around 30 buildings will be built on the site, which will be between five and 14 stories high. Most of the more than 40 plots are owned by around 20 private landowners.
The heart of "horw mitte" is the extension and expansion of Horw station. A new bus station is planned to shorten the transfer distances between bus and central railroad. Additional bicycle parking spaces, an information point, new restaurants and stores will also be located on the station site. The train and bus stations are scheduled to be opened in mid-2022. The cost of the station project is CHF 27 million. (ah)
