The area around the "Salesianum" near Oberwil is considered in the local planning of Stadtzug as a zone with high demands on urban, landscape and architectural design. Accordingly, work on the development plan has been going on for more than ten years. Now a controversy has erupted over the fact that the public use was missing, which according to the local planning was specified for the development plan. The idea was to use the building as a paper museum, a manufactory or a café.

The Great Municipal Council has approved the development plan by 21 votes to 15, but has taken recourse to a referendum by the authorities. This is the second time that the voters of the city of Zug will be voting on the Salesianum development plan. Four years ago, it was already approved with a yes vote of 54 percent. Because of a federal court ruling, the project had to be scaled down and a new development plan drawn up, which is now available. (ah)
