Spiez: Escherpark AG plans large housing estate
The "Escherpark" development in Spiez is to be the largest new housing estate in recent decades. For CHF 56 million, Escherpark AG is building 78 apartments in ten houses, the majority of which will be sold as condominiums.

The deadline for the plan to be published expired a few days ago, and according to a report by the Bernese newspaper only five objections were received against the project. One point of criticism is the access to the parking garage with a capacity of around 140 spaces, which provides access to the development from Oberlandstrasse.
The superstructure is to be adapted to the topography of the 17,000-square-meter Eschermatte. Four houses with a height of around seven meters will be built facing Oberlandstrasse and Kapellenstrasse, while the remaining six buildings will be slightly higher at around 9.5 meters. The transition to the undeveloped landscape with existing fruit trees is to be smooth. The surrounding project also provides for more trees to be planted than before. The settlement is traffic-free and will be connected to the nearby village center and train station by a public footpath. Construction work is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2016.
The design is the responsibility of a team from the offices of HMS Architekten und Planer AG and Christian Nussbaum AG. Nussbaum is also chairman of the board of the investor Escherpark AG. (ah)
