Airbnb: Number of guests doubles
Airbnb, the online broker of private apartments, reports rapid growth figures for Switzerland. In 2015, more than 300,000 guests rented accommodation via the platform, almost twice as many as in 2014.
Airbnb recently announced guest numbers for Switzerland for the first time. While there were only around 2,000 hosts in this country three years ago, Airbnb now has more than 17,000 listings in Switzerland. 87% of Swiss hosts had only posted one listing on the platform, which suggests that they are private individuals renting out their apartment or room. If a provider has placed more than one listing, Airbnb considers this to be an indication of a professional user, such as a real estate company.
