Gleis 1" marks the completion of the Bahnhof Nord design plan and thus also the transformation of the station district in Suhr; the "Suhrportal" development was already completed beforehand. The new building will contain 87 rental apartments and 1,100 square meters of retail, restaurant, commercial and service space, as well as twelve customer parking spaces (outside) and 50 underground parking spaces.

According to Halter, the target group for the 1- to 2-room apartments, which all have a loggia, includes young adults, part-time students at nearby educational institutions, employees of the Aarau Cantonal Hospital, and single retirees. In the front side as well as in the attic floor of the development there are 2.5 and 3.5 room apartments with terraces of up to 40 sqm.

According to Halter, one third of the total service space of around 1,100 sqm has already been leased, including to two restaurants.

The architecture of "Gleis 1" was created according to designs by FSP Architekten AG and is intended to be reminiscent of a railroad carriage. (ah)
