Baden: Brisgi site to be built over with apartments
The Wohnbaustiftung Baden is planning a superstructure with around 150 apartments for the Brisgi site. For this purpose, an architectural competition has now been launched in which ten teams consisting of architectural and landscape architecture firms are participating.
According to the competition program, around 150 apartments are to be built. 90 percent of the space is earmarked for low-cost housing, while the remaining ten percent is to be used for restaurants, small businesses, studios and neighborhood utilities.
The Wohnbaustiftung Baden wants to use the superstructure to offer differentiated housing options for different income groups: The focus is on "family living with children". This is to be supplemented by smaller apartments (with the possibility of renting individual rooms for a certain period of time) as well as large apartments designed for shared living. Such individually adapted living spaces for the most diverse forms of living are intended to create the conditions for an attractive neighborhood life, writes the housing foundation in a media release.
In September 2016, the competition jury - consisting of architectural experts and foundation board members - will make its decision, which will then be published and presented to the public in October 2016.
The Wohnbaustiftung Baden was established in 2012 and, in accordance with the housing strategy adopted by the city of Baden in 2010, promotes residential construction and thus the supply of affordable housing. The residential development on the Brisgi site is the first project of Wohnbaustiftung Baden, with more to follow. (ah)
