Thun: Hoffmann Neopac plans major development
Hoffmann Neopac AG wants to redevelop an unused land reserve of around 35,700 sqm at its production site on Eisenbahnstrasse in Thun with apartments and a nursing home.
The realization of the project will cost around CHF 130 million. It would create a new neighborhood center for the Schoren, Gwatt and Buchholz area.
The Husistein & Partner office from Aarau emerged as the winner of a project competition. Eleven houses with 113 rental apartments and 64 condominiums for singles and families, 48 apartments for the elderly with services, a nursing home with 104 nursing places and a cafeteria open to the public, as well as a neighborhood store and a daycare center for children are planned.
The Thun-based foundation WiA - Wohnen im Alter (Living in Old Age) has already been selected as the operator of the nursing home and the apartments for the elderly.
Based on the winning project, the necessary planning documents for a zoning ordinance are now being drawn up in collaboration with the city of Thun. If everything goes according to plan, the population will be able to express its opinion at the end of 2016 as part of the public participation process. Construction could start in 2019. (ah)
