New urban quarter for Dierikon
The municipality of Dierikon and Dierinvest AG want to develop the approximately 18,000 square meter Rockwell site of Schindler AG into a new urban quarter. Commercial uses are planned for a basement level and around 300 apartments above in four residential buildings built on top of the basement level.

A future development plan for the current industrial and commercial area should provide for a mixed zone with residential, office, service and commercial use, as the municipality of Direikon writes in a press release. The public consultation and participation is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2017, with the rezoning to be submitted for approval at a municipal assembly in 2017. If everything goes smoothly, construction of the "Rontalzentrum" can begin in mid-2019.
Details of the planned building have not yet been finalized. For example, it has not yet been decided how high the new complex will be or what size the apartments will be, according to local media. The Rockwell site is currently owned by Schindler Aufzüge AG. Commercial enterprises are rented in the shed halls. The higher administration building running parallel to it has been renovated and will be used by Schindler management in the future as an interim use. (ah)
