Housing: Rents stagnate
According to the Homegate rental index for September 2016, asking rents in Switzerland remain unchanged. Compared to the same month last year, rents rose only marginally by 0.09%.

Homegate registered rising rents in the cantons of Bern (+0.09%), Lucerne (+0.17%), Solothurn (+0.45%), Aargau (+0.09%), Geneva and Vaud (+0.16%). By contrast, rents are falling in the cantons of Zurich (-0.26%), Baselland and Basel-Stadt (-0.09%), St. Gallen (-0.09%), Thurgau (-0.09%) and Ticino (-0.73%).
The quoted rent index is compiled monthly by the real estate portal Homegate.ch in collaboration with Zürcher Kantonalbank (ZKB). It measures the monthly, quality-adjusted change in rental prices for new and re-let apartments based on current market offers. (ah)
