Interlaken: Start of construction for "Herreney" residential complex
Construction work has begun on the Herreney residential development in Interlaken. In two construction stages, 175 residential units will be built at a cost of around CHF 100 million.

After the project competition had already taken place in 2012, the building permit was issued in August of this year - among other things, two objections and an appeal had delayed the start of construction. The building owner is BHG Herreney c/o Hauenstein Immobilien AG, the lead planners are HMS Architekten und Planer.
On a 42,000-square-meter plot of land between the course of the Aare River and the shipping canal, 175 residential units will be built on a gross floor area of around 21,000 square meters, half of which will be rental apartments and half owner-occupied apartments. In the first stage, 84 apartments with a normal standard of fit-out will be built; the second stage has not yet been scheduled.
The development will be accessed by a new access road from the canal promenade to the turning area. The architects expect the shell of the first stage to take about one and a half years to complete. (ah)
