Since 2010, BEP Baugenossenschaft des eidgenössischen Personals has been planning a housing development on the Limmatfeld in Dietikon. That was when negotiations began for the site on the Limmat Canal. Now, seven years later, the foundation stone has been laid.

There will be 152 apartments as well as so-called value-added spaces, such as common rooms, guest apartments, separate rooms and hobby rooms. Commercial space will be rented out on the first floor of the buildings. On the same site, the NEST pension fund is building another 52 apartments, and a municipal kindergarten is also planned.

The apartments offered by BEP range from studio apartments to 7-room shared apartments. Part of the space on offer is deliberately tight and is considered a bugdet apartment, the building cooperative informs. Such a 4-room apartment with 83 sqm will cost around CHF 1,800 per month. The apartments should be ready for occupancy in late summer 2019.

The development was designed by Duplex Architekten. BEP estimates the construction costs at CHF 80 million.
