Apartments are most expensive in Zurich
Since 2007, prices for condominiums in Zurich have risen by 97 percent. The city on the Limmat is also the most expensive place in Switzerland for home buyers, according to a recent study.

ETH Zurich and Comparis.ch have analyzed offer prices in the Swiss housing market since 2005 for their real estate report. The report is based on data from over 1.5 million purchase advertisements for houses and apartments from 2005 to the end of June 2018.
The most expensive apartments are in Zurich, with a median price of CHF 13,000/sqm. This is followed by the Zurich lakeside communities of Horgen (CHF 11,750) and Meilen (CHF 11,250). The district of Maloja in the Grisons, which includes St. Moritz, is in fourth place (CHF 11,250). In fifth place is the canton of Geneva with 11,000 CHF/sqm.
In the district of Le Locle (NE), apartments are the cheapest in Switzerland with a price per square meter of CHF 3,250. This is followed by Goms (VS) at 3,500 CHF/sqm and Courtelary (BE) at 3,750 CHF/sqm.
According to the survey, the top 10 Swiss districts with the highest price increases since 2007 include only lakeside regions, with the exception of the district of Bülach (ZH). The apartment prices offered per square meter have risen the most in Zurich, with the Zurich lakeside municipality of Horgen in second place (+89% compared with 2007). In third place is the canton of Nidwalden with a price increase of 82 percent. Here, CHF 9,000/sqm currently has to be paid for a home. (ah)
