Gehrig Generalunternehmung AG and Rütihof AG are building a new quarter in Bürglen TG called "Blumenau". The approximately one-hectare site is located on the Thur Canal. In the first two-year construction phase, 33 condominiums, three terraced single-family houses and 21 rental apartments will be built. The move-in date is scheduled for spring 2023. A further 61 apartments will be built in the second phase, which is scheduled for the period from 2022 to 2025.

The apartments and terraced single-family houses have 3.5 to 5.5 rooms. The apartments have areas of around 60 to 152 sqm. The houses will have a living space of around 160 sqm plus garden and basement. The condominiums or houses will cost between half a million and just under one million CHF. Heating will be provided by a groundwater heat exchanger.

The property was acquired jointly by Gehrig AG and Rütihof AG in 2015. The area is subject to a design plan and is located in the two- and three-storey residential zone. The building is being constructed according to the plans of Antoniol+Huber+Partner, the winners of the architectural competition.

According to a report in the St. Galler Tagblatt, one problem still needs to be solved: "The access road is currently still an old, rough concrete road and drivers have to cross the railway tracks with a barrier system," it says. This access road should be relocated, the local council has already completed the revision of the local planning. (tp)
