Handover of keys for Tissot Arena in Biel

A few days ago, the Tissot Arena in Biel, which is the first Swiss stadium to combine a soccer and an ice hockey arena under one roof, was officially handed over. The city of Biel is the owner of the double stadium, which was financed as part of a public-private partnership (PPP). The general contractor of the 400-meter-long and 100-meter-wide building in Bözingenfeld is HRS.

The complex consists of a football stadium with space for about 5,200 spectators, an ice hockey stadium for 6,500 spectators, which can also host other events such as concerts or large congresses. Under a public ice hockey training field there is a curling hall with six playing fields. Furthermore, three soccer training fields and a solar power plant on the roof belong to the complex.

The shell use consists of stores, restaurants and entertainment. The main tenants in the store area are Lipo and Conforama. In addition, Migros, the Let's Go fitness center, Blackout and Ochsner Hockey have already signed a lease. In addition, a bowling center and a Kitag mulitplex cinema with six screens are planned. According to HRS, 70 percent of the space has been leased.

The shopping center is scheduled to open in September and cost around CHF 130 million. In total, the construction volume of the Tissot Arena amounts to CHF 200 million. The opening ceremony for the stadium will take place at the end of September. (ah)
