Coop launches new store concept

The retailer Coop is launching a new store concept called "Coop to go", which is geared towards out-of-home catering. The first store opened on August 19 at Zurich Stadelhofen station, with 50 more outlets to follow over the next five years.

The offer includes, for example, a muesli and salad bar and take-away products such as homemade smoothies or small breads.

Coop sees great potential in the concept. As the company writes in a media release, more than CHF 2.6 billion was spent on fast food last year. Especially on weekdays, many consumers, mostly young, are spending less and less time preparing food. At the same time, however, demand for fresh and healthy food is growing. (ah)
