Zalando realises logistics centre for Swiss customers
The online sales platform Zalando will start building another logistics center in Germany in October 2015. The project in Lahr, Baden, will also serve to supply customers in Switzerland. Together with the project developer, investor and manager Goodman, Zalando is building a 130,000-square-meter property at the Lahr airfield in the Upper Rhine location with an investment sum of around 100 million euros.

Its logistics center, which will then be the fourth in Germany, will primarily serve demand in the border triangle. Test operations in Lahr are scheduled to begin in fall 2016. Zalando plans to create around 1,000 jobs at the site in the future, according to a company media release. Zalando has already implemented similar projects with Goodman in Erfurt and Mönchengladbach. In addition, the Berlin-based Zalando has another logistics center in Brieselang, Brandenburg. (mr)
