Geneva: Confédération Centre to be renovated

The shopping arcade in Geneva's Confédération Centre, which opened 30 years ago, is to be renovated at a cost of CHF 60 million. The three owners have submitted the building application together with CSA Real Estate Switzerland, an investment group of Credit Suisse Investment Foundation.

According to Credit Suisse, this step is a milestone in a project that began in 2011 and, in the best case scenario, will be completed at the end of 2019 with the inauguration of the new Confédération Centre.

The interior will be redesigned to create more space and better direct the flow of visitors. The marble currently installed will be replaced with modern materials and wood. Outside, a new awning will be installed to match the look of the building's facade. The renovation is also expected to reduce the building's energy consumption, as all technology (electricity, heating, service water, ventilation) will be renewed. (ah)
