Retail: Aldi plans around 120 new stores
Aldi Suisse has big expansion plans. The discounter is aiming for a network of 300 stores; there are currently 181 stores across Switzerland.
Aldi also plans to invest CHF 70 million in the modernization of its existing store network. All locations are to be given a new store design, while the convenience area and the presentation of fresh fruit and vegetables are to be upgraded.
The new design has already been implemented in the Winterthur branch in Töss and in the second branch in Zurich-Oerlikon, which opened at the end of May. All newly planned branches as well as the existing store locations will gradually be equipped with new style elements. (ah)
