Basel: SBB renovates west wing at SBB station
SBB has submitted the building application for the renovation of the west wing of Basel SBB station. Among other things, new commercial space and catering facilities are planned. According to local media reports, CHF 70 million will be invested.
According to SBB's plans, the main work will begin in November 2017 and is expected to last until the end of 2020. The completely refurbished and renewed west wing is then scheduled to reopen in 2021.
The stores, which are currently located in the west wing, will be temporarily housed in the main hall and the east wing, among others, during the reconstruction.
Basel SBB station is considered the largest border station in Europe. In 2014, an average of 113,000 passengers embarked and disembarked on weekdays. (ah)
