How the Handelszeitung Migros now also wants to become active in the market for non-electrified bicycles. In addition to the bike departments in the SportXX stores, Migros plans to open its own bike stores from 2017, according to the report. Migros has so far only confirmed that SportXX is planning to "expand its expertise next year".

According to the newspaper report, the Federation of Migros Cooperatives submitted an application in September to register the "Bike World Sport XX" brand, under which the bike stores could operate. It is also clear from the application that Migros not only wants to sell bikes in the stores, but also repair them. According to the newspaper, two pilot stores are to be launched next spring. (ah)
