Migros launches bike retail chain Bike World
On March 2, Migros will open its first stand-alone Bike World by SportXX brand store in Volketswil. Two further openings will follow in Muri near Bern and in Winterthur.
The branches of the Bike World by SportXX chain of specialist stores are to comprise sales areas of between 900 and 1,200 square meters. On offer will be around 450 bikes from all segments such as mountain bikes, city and trekking bikes, e-bikes, racing bikes, BMX and children's bikes. In addition, there will be a large range of textiles, accessories and spare parts, as well as various analysis and test equipment. Each Bike World store will also be equipped with a large bike workshop. A total of eight to ten people will work in the stores.
Migros intends to establish the new format throughout Switzerland over the next five years. Two more openings are scheduled before the end of the year, the next in Muri near Bern (March 23), followed by Winterthur (March 30). There will also be an online store from fall 2017.
