According to a report by the Handelszeitung the first Decathlon store will open in the Migros Marin-Centre shopping centre in Marin-Epagnier (NE). As a company representative told the newspaper, the store in Neuchâtel is just the beginning. Decathlon is pursuing "a policy of gradual development of a market", it added. Which regions are the focus of the expansion and when the first Decathlon store in German-speaking Switzerland will open are not yet known.

The French group was founded in the 1970s. In 2016, Decathlon made a turnover of around ten billion euros with 75,000 employees worldwide.
