XXXLutz comes to Switzerland
Austrian furniture retailer XXXLutz will open its first store in Switzerland next year.
Initially, the Handelszeitung reported that XXXLutz would open in Rothrist (AG) in 2018. In the meantime, the Austrian company has also officially confirmed that it has signed a long-term lease agreement with stilhaus AG as of December 2017. Accordingly, XXXLutz rents 21,000 sqm of operating space, including 13,000 sqm of retail space, in the "Stilhaus", a shopping center that focuses on the themes of building, living and furnishing.
On three floors, the company says it wants to present primarily high-quality designer and brand furniture and a wide range of home accessories. The opening is planned for spring 2018. Around 100 new jobs are to be created at the new location in Rothrist.
With its forthcoming market entry in Switzerland, the XXXLutz Group is represented in ten European countries. It currently operates 246 furniture stores with a total of 21,500 employees. The group turnover is 4.2 billion euros.
Opposite the Handelszeitung a company spokesman had said that further branches were planned in Switzerland, possibly also in Ticino and French-speaking Switzerland.
