Oerlikon: Neumarkt shopping centre to be revitalised
The Neumarkt in Oerlikon will be renovated by 2020. The work includes, among other things, the redesign of the shopping center and the renewal of the facade.
The Neumarkt in Oerlikon was built from 1978 to 1981 and is now, after 36 years, to be thoroughly renovated. The building complex consists of two parking levels (3rd and 2nd floors), retail and restaurant floors (1st floor to 2nd floor) and two high-rise buildings with office and residential use. In March of this year, a connection to the Passage of the new train station Oerlikon opened
According to Privera, the revitalization work includes a facade renovation and the renewal of the retail area: The escalator system and the store fronts will be repositioned, and the facade will be renewed from the first floor to the second floor. In addition, renovation and maintenance measures will be carried out in the area of building services.
The Migros Zurich cooperative, a major tenant in Neumarkt Oerlikon, plans to renovate its supermarket on the second floor as part of the work.
Construction work is scheduled to begin in 2019 and last until November 2020. During this time, the Neumarkt will remain open, Privera informs. The company is implementing the revitalization project together with the architectural firm Walker Architekten from Brugg.
