Nadia von Veltheim, Chief Real Estate Officer at Lidl Switzerland, described the opening of the branch in the Fraumünsterpost as a "milestone". The discounter is pursuing a strategy of increasingly developing attractive locations in metropolitan areas and city centers.

For the branch in the listed building in the center of Zurich, the discounter says it has tried to preserve the historic character of the building, but to combine it with modern architecture. Customers can enter the store through two different entrances on Kappelergasse. On a sales area of around 1,000 square meters, 1,800 products for daily needs are offered, including fresh produce.

The Fraumünster store is the discounter's 20th store in the canton of Zurich, and there are now 116 locations throughout Switzerland. According to the company, further expansion is planned.
