Coop launches new store format Fooby
Coop has launched the new Fooby format in Lausanne. The focus is on "culinary craftsmanship", according to the company.
The Fooby store has taken up residence in the former Kursaal-Théâtre on Place BelAir in Lausanne on an area of 1,000 sqm. It is a mixture of convenience shop and manufacture, says Coop. Numerous products are manufactured on site, for example fish is smoked, coffee is roasted, bread is baked and sausages are made.
Furthermore, the Fooby Store also offers wine tastings and non-food articles related to culinary delights. The assortment consists mainly of sustainable products, some of which also come from regional producers.
Coop has been renovating the Kursaal-Théâtre de Lausanne, built around 1900 by Lausanne architect Jacques Regamey, since 2016. The aim was to preserve the former theatre atmosphere as far as possible: The frescoes in the auditorium have been restored, and the stage and gallery have been repurposed. (ah)
